Application Requirements - Accredited Senior Coach (IIC)

  1. 300 hours of specific coach training
(This is an additional 150 hours over Accredited Practitioner Coach training.)

Specific Coach training includes face-to-face coach training; teleclasses or teleconference calls delivered by qualified coaches; and mentored coaching, as part of a coach training programme.

You need to provide the name of the training organisation(s), the number of 'contact' hours with qualified trainers/coaches (providing names of trainers where possible) and a description of the course content. Where you have trained through an accredited IIC course, the course content will be known by the IIC - so please ensure that you apply for your accreditation through the links provided to the Training Organisation.

Where you selected to train through an IIC Accredited Course*, it is important that you send a copy of the training certificate from this organisation, with all other applicable training certificates.

  2. Copy of Coaching Log, showing 750 hours of coaching experience, of which at least 80% is paid

A coaching log provides evidence of the number of coaching hours. It can be presented in either hard copy format or submitted by email. The coaching log will show the date, duration of the coaching session, nature of the coaching session (e.g. life coaching; executive coaching; team coaching etc), together with the initials or reference to the person you were coaching (thereby protecting their confidentiality).

Coaching that is paid for via a barter or service swapping system can count towards these hours providing this is evidenced as such in the coaching log and constitutes no more than 20% of the total of the paid coaching element.

It is not our policy to return any material submitted for your accreditation application; therefore where you select to send your Coaching Log in hard-copy, we ask that you only send a copy of your Coaching Log, and that you keep your original.

  3. Copy of Training Certificate(s)

Ensure that copies of all formal coach training certificate(s), plus copies of any other certificates that are relevant to your application are included with your application.

It is not our policy to return any material submitted for your accreditation application; therefore we ask that you only send copies of your certificates and keep all your originals.

  4. Copy of Continuing Professional Development log

Your Continuing Professional Development (C.P.D.) Log is an important record of your coach training, learning, research, studying and should be kept safe at all times. This C.P.D. Log must be updated with all aspects of your coach training - training courses, teleconferences, workshops, conferences, events, mentor coaching, books read, articles written and published, etc.

Where your CPD Log refers to training courses, teleconferences, or workshops it should include all relevant deatails including title, course content, duration of course and learning outcomes.

Please feel free to send copies of certificates for or information on anything you have participated in that you feel has contributed to your development as a coach.

Your CPD Log can be presented in either hard copy format or submitted by email.

It is not our policy to return any material submitted for your accreditation application; therefore we ask that where you select to submit your CPD log in hard-copy, that you only send a copy of your C.P.D. Log, and that you keep your original.

  5. Testimonials from 5 paying clients

Testimonials submitted are written references that must include the individual's name, their address and contact details - at a minimum their telephone number and email address.

The IIC may select to contact the individual's who have provided your testimonials, therefore we ask you to notify them in advance of this possibility.

It is not our policy to return any material submitted for your accreditation application; therefore we ask that you only send copies of your testimonials and keep all your originals.

  6. Tape or CD recording of 2 coaching sessions

A clear recording of coaching sessions with an unidentified client(s) is required. This can be a recording of either separate clients, or the same client for each of the sessions. Where your clients select not to support this element of your accreditation process, you will be able, at an additional fee, to coach a member of the Accreditation team.

It is not our policy to return any material submitted for your accreditation application; therefore we confirm that the tape or CD you submit will be destroyed following accreditation.

Where you selected to train through an IIC Accredited Course*, these recordings may be taped with other students or colleages, but are taped in a real coaching session and are not taped in a role play situation.

  7. Successful completion of interview with a member of the IIC Accreditation Team

Following the receipt and review of your complete documentation supporting your application as part of the accreditation process you will be contacted by a member of the IIC's Accreditation Team to arrange a mutually convenient time and date for an interview. You will be required to telephone or Skype the IIC Accreditation Team Member for your interview. This interview will last approximately 15-20 minutes.

Where you selected to train through an IIC Accredited Course*, and your application is applied for through your training organisation, or signed by the Training Director of your selected training organisation, the telephone interview with a member of the Accreditation team is not required.

  8. Completion of Declaration of Integrity

Your Declaration of Integrity is your verification that the information provided and the documentation submitted as part of your accreditation application is accurate and genuine.

Click here to access and save a copy of the Declaration of Integrity. Please complete and sign your Declaration of Integrity and submit it with the documentation submitted for your Accreditation requirement.

The Declaration of Integrity is saved in Adobe format (.pdf) file and can be downloaded as above from the IIC website - if you are unable to read it, please go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html to download the Adobe Reader software.

  9. Payment of one-off registration fee and application fee.

It is important that all documentation submitted to support your Accreditation application is posted to the addresses provided on the email you receive in confirmation of your application.

Within a week of your telephone interview, you will receive an email from the Intl. Head of Accreditation, letting you know whether your application for your accreditation has been successful.

On successful completion of your accreditation application, your accreditation certificate will be available to download and save from the Members' area. You will then be able to refer to yourself as an 'Accredited Senior Coach (IIC)' using the initials 'ASC'.

Accreditation with the IIC, once granted, remains with the Coach for the length of their career. To demonstrate continuing professional development, the IIC requests that all accredited Coaches do a minimum of 25 hours CPD per annum. This will be evidenced by their CPD log. Each accredited Coach is required to submit updated copies of their Coaching Hours log and CPD log every three (3) years; to demonstrate their continuing professional experience and career development. Coaches are encouraged to continue to upgrade their accreditation status in line with their experience and training.

In line with the Standards and Ethics of the IIC, please ensure that your level of accreditation is always mentioned and you do not refer to yourself as simply an IIC Accredited Coach.

Should you not meet the standards required by the IIC to attain the accreditation level you applied for; the International Head of Accreditation will contact you to discuss your options. These will include working with you to achieve the standards required, or awarding you with an accreditation status lower than you appied for. As soon as you have had this conversation, and if required submitted or re-submitted the necessary documentation, your application will be reprocessed. Please note although there maybe an additional charge made for this you will not be asked to pay the full application fee again. An additional charge will be based upon the areas that are to be re-submitted.

We hope that this Explanation Note explains the accreditation process in the fullest detail possible. However, if you have any questions concerning your application please email us.
