Coach Accreditation

Accredited Membership is available to individuals who want to demonstrate their training and experience with an internationally recognised coaching standard.

As a motivated coach wanting to attract more clients, the IIC has an independently established accreditation level to suit your requirements.

The IIC provides six levels of accreditation for individual Coaches. Each level of accreditation demonstrates the training and coaching experience you have as a coach, by showing the number of hours of coach specific training and a coaching log showing the number of hours of coaching experience that you have.

Accredited Coaches come from a variety of backgrounds and practice in a large range of professions. So you may be a life, corporate, executive, business, work/life balance, parent, relationship, sports, retirement, health, and list continues, coach - who ever you are and however you coach, there are a whole host of benefits just waiting for you.

For full details of the benefits available for Accredited Membership, click here.

As part of your accreditation IIC accredited coaches agree to abide by the IIC's Standards and Ethics, which adds to the professionalism of the coaching industry. The six levels of Individual Coach Accreditation are:

Selecting the correct level of accreditation is an important step in your career. This provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to reach the highest standards you can attain in the coaching profession.

The purpose of Accreditation is to:
  1. reinforce coaching as a professional industry.
  2. demonstration that, as an industry, coaching is able to demonstrate its professionalism through the independent requirements defined in each accreditation status above.
  3. assure the individuals and organisations that are hiring coaches, that accredited coaches and those listed in the Coach Referral Programme, have met or exceed the accreditation requirements defined for the selected accreditation level.
Accreditation with the IIC, once granted, remains with the coach for the length of their career. To demonstrate continuing professional development, the IIC requests that all accredited coaches do a minimum of 25 hours CPD per annum. This will be evidenced by their CPD log. Each accredited coach is required to submit updated copies of their Coaching Hours log and CPD log every 3 years; to demonstrate their continuing professional experience and career development. Coaches are encouraged to continue to upgrade their accreditation status in line with their experience and training.

The IIC does not work in competition with other international accreditation organisations, but co-operates and supports other organisations that have the same purpose in mind. For this reason, the IIC recognises the accreditation/credentials awarded by these organisations. For further information on how to transfer your accreditation to the IIC, please email accreditation@the-iic.org.

Where you have trained through an accredited IIC course, the course content will be known by the IIC and as such a simplified accreditation process is available to you. You can either apply for your accreditation through the links above, or through those provided to your Training Organisation. For further information, please do not hesitate to email accreditation@the-iic.org.
