Positive Daily Action

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

BenjaminFranklin 1706 - 1790
US author, diplomat, inventor, physicist, politician, & printer.

Many successful entrepreneurs have attributed theirachievements in business to following what Benjamin Franklinhad to say. I too compound that view as being an essentialingredient and effective way to generate space to planand implement productive business activity. Masteringthis one specific technique of availing yourself of yourtime to only do what is relevant to the task in hand contributingto the early actionable applications that will maximiseyour productivity outcome.

In essenceevery action counts towards your coaching business successor its failure. There are many different ways of measuringPDA. Your results will depend how you deploy your timeand the responsibility you take for generating income.

P.S. I would love to know how you operate your PDA, dowrite to me at the IIC and share.

Acronym

PHP

– hypertext pre-processor originally created by Rasmus Lerdorftin 1995.

The use of the internet by coaches to conduct business is phenomenal. PHP code is part of the scripting language used in web site development to produce dynamic web pages. Basically the PHP code is embedded into the HTML source document and interpreted by a web server.

Owning a web site is today’s equivalent of a high street shop front. Have you got your web site up and running for business?

Editors Letter

Dear Subscribers

June is in full swing and bursting out all over, flowersare blooming everywhere and growth is abundant. Even the world economy is doing its thing due to decisions taken by government leaders and banking institutions. They took responsibility to create the current catastrophe because we gave them the power to do so – we gave away our personal responsibility and this is the result we have– world wide economic crisis. Ladies and gentlemen it's time to wake up and step up and take full and total individual responsibility for our own lives. It’s not too late, a plan can be set and action can be taken. I encourage you to choose to take personal responsibility for your lifestyle.

In this issue we have some tips to help you banish any uncertainties you might have about changing your life for the better. I’ve also introduced a brand new section on guest contributors sharing their stories and offering their personal insights into why they changed their life. On that note I’d like to extend my invitation to you, if you have a story to tell about taking responsibility for your lifestyle and changing it for the better then let’s have a chat about publishing your story here for over 25,000 coaching individuals to read.

Another exciting event this month is that I’m introducing a brand new section – Guest Contributor of the Month. We kick off with Roe Teed from Australia and next month I’d like to add your contribution, so do get busy writing and let’s have a conversation about your coaching experiences narratives appearing in the IIC newsletter.

Talking of ‘kick off’, it’s World Cup Time. The FIFA World Cup is an international association football world men’s football competition (what happened to Women’s Liberation?) of the members of the Federation International de Football Association, the sport’s global governing body.

So fellow coaches, I encourage you to take responsibility for your coaching activities and become and accredited coach with the world’s premier division global accreditation body IIC – International Institute of Coaching.

Yours in Coaching,
                                                      PaTrisha-Anne Todd, LCSi, AFC

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY –Taking Consistent Action To Achieve Results

Why do you get out of bed every morning?

Do you know what your ‘why’, is all about? Is it optimal health, financial security, freedom and having the lifestyle that you really desire?

What’s going on inside of your head this month?

People with a true sense of responsibility have a positive mindset and take living life and doing business very seriously, its all part of the obligation to oneself. They know the difference about taking responsibility for one’s lifestyle, and deploying the skill of organisation and of continued review and reflecting skills.

Choosing to take personal responsibility is a powerful habit that goes hand in hand with success. This is a vital component for coaches who want to be successful.

What is also involved in having responsibility for oneself is acknowledgement of self esteem. Self esteem is automatically raised when going about daily coaching activities.

However, its important to incorporate such daily tasks as taking time out for relaxation and calm, following a hobby, exercise, personal development and reading self help books – life is not all about making money, it’s about long term investment in one’s whole persona including displaying good character and accountability, all of which is a wise outlay. Life needs the expression of feeling good, happy, positive, respectful and joyful, and uncannily enough life will give you what you put into it as a matter of consequence of your action or non-action in any situation of your life, therefore is most important that you understand the difference between all that is involved in being authentic to oneself and negligent.

Keep Account of Your Goals

Adults can multi-task as they go about their life. Coaches have the added bonus of knowing multiple techniques to change habits, particularly those habits that no longer serve.

Of course determining what right or wrong, what’s good or bad are all within your scope of coaching. By accepting the reality of the given situation you can live in truth and rid yourself of any falsehood, just taking that stance in your life will give you a positive outcome.

Eliminate Clutter and Keep Streamlined

Responsibility includes being organised. Professional Organisation has been a popular business in the United States for several decades, but, wherever you live on this planet the primary source of keeping abreast of your possessions will contribute to your authentic self and successful lifestyle with less stress and more positive outcomes.

De-cluttering will spur you on to do more, be more and achieve more. Consistent de-cluttering will free upboth you physical space and your mind to create more and better situations and relationships in your life– just ask any coach who specialised or experience de-cluttering.

Re-asses and Start Afresh

Pushing through to get the results you want is the trademark of all coaches. When you can move forward then that’s great, but, sometimes summoning the inner strength take consistent action inspite of fear of failure or fear of the unknown is a hard pill of courage to swallow. There is no need to bash yourself up about it. Just give yourself authority to take full command of your life and make the decision to accept responsibility for who you are. Take the lead, be creative, focused and at one you’ll find that resistance will melt away and your world will become a better place.

All in all sustain your motivation to be responsible for yourself and your lifestyle by compiling and taking action of a simple plan for every day.

Top Tip - EMPOWER YOURSELF

When the going gets tough, the tough get going…

A phrase many of us have heard time and time again, particularly in these times of economic uncertainty.

Tricks are plentiful to supposedly prop us up in the game of self empowerment and personal control, promising to win back any lost motivation and impacting our inner core for life changing effects.

Is There An Easy Way To Self Empowerment?

Yes, there is an easy way to get back on track and live life on purpose to your standards. You won’t have to walk barefoot across red hot coals, or broken glass, scale a 10 metre high, or higher wall face, sky dive or even break arrows on your throat. All you need to do is live your life on purpose with a profound sense of authenticity.

Whatever you want to get done on a daily basis as part of your short, medium and long term goals living life on purpose will give you a hugely dynamic level of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Each day as you rise to the challenge life puts in front of you and engage yourself in positive thoughts, productive action and celebration of having the foresight to live your life on purpose.

Your Questions Answered

“How important is it to identify a niche?”

There is a lot of talk about identifying ‘your niche’. Personally, I found that having a niche certainly made it much easier for me to formulate the message I wanted to get across, identify where my target market was and the best methods to promote my services.

If you haven’t identified a niche perhaps you could ask yourself which individuals you are interested in helping, or who you believe would benefit from coaching and are in a position to pay for your services. Perhaps you have worked with groups of people in the past and can identify with the challenges they face – would coaching them on these issues help? Is there a gap in the market for a specialist coach?

If you are having difficulty identifying a niche, it may be worth considering the following.
  • When you first had your vision of your dream business, what type of clients were buying your services?
  • Is there a particular aspect of your coaching that you enjoy most and can this be linked to a particular target market? Having an area of your business that you are passionate about is a great starting point because marketing that aspect will be immensely appealing to you and you will enjoy creating a marketing plan around that area.
  • Have you had any specific experience in the past which can support a particular market segment such as a specialist career, working mum, overcoming challenges with health and wellbeing, constant relocating to different countries? Because you have experienced these things in the past, you already have a special understanding and empathy with individuals going through the same experiences. There may well be a market to offer your coaching services to them.

Accountability– taking unfailing steps towards your goal

Perhaps one of the hardest things to accept initially is that the way you are living now, today, is a direct result of your previous thoughts and actions, and for those you are solely responsible. If your situation is not living up to your expectations, this can be a hard pill to swallow and accept. Of course, we cannot control all events that happen to us but we can control the way we feel, respond and behave to those situations. Blaming other people or events for where our lives are right now will not change it – only we can do that. We are personally responsible.

Coaching promotes the future starts from today onwards and so you can take responsibility to change your actions, behaviours and results. Right now is the best time to start, even if the first step is small. As soon as one positive action has been taken it is easier to continue to move forward. Taking consistent, positive steps is the only way to improve the areas of your life you want to improve.

Acknowledging you are personally responsibility for your own life can be quite freeing. If you are responsible, you have the power to take control, seize opportunities and put actions in place to work towards achieving goals in your life. It is your life and you are in charge of it. Taking personal responsibility therefore means exercising your freedom of choice. Your freedom to choose to change the way you respond to situations, to change the perspective you use to assess situations, to improve your self-belief in order to support the actions you commit to taking.

Taking personal responsibility can mean having the courage to stretch yourself in order to achieve the goal you have set and also taking responsibility for the results achieved. Assessing the outcomes, maintaining momentum and setting further consistent steps to remain focused, is the only way you will achieve what you want to achieve.

However, it is also important to take responsibility for your own health and wellbeing, keeping your emotions and mindset positive, respecting and valuing yourself. When you are in the best physical and mental shape that you can be, you are also enhancing your relationships, contributing to the community and the environment around you. Everyone benefits from an individual performing at their best and in a ripple effect it inspires others to follow your example.

Knowing the future you desire is in your hands when would be the best time to put actions in place to achieve that future?

IIC Member Benefit Spotlight: ICR

The International Coaching Register is for any individual who trades as a Coach, who help individuals and/or organisations for example, establish a work life balance, manage stress levels and build communication skills amongst many other specialist areas.

Everyone who has qualified as a Coach with a recognised Coach training company should now take the opportunity to register. This will dramatically cut down on any misrepresentation that goes on within the industry. Many people have websites and call themselves a Coach but have no actual qualifications. The register will stop these people and raise the profile of genuine Coaching and how it can transform people’s lives.

President of the IIC Gerard O’Donovan said “the register has been administered by the IIC for the benefit of the world of Coaching and Coaching clients.
